I don’t know anymore if it is a good thing to have experienced most of the world at 23. I don’t know if it’s to my benefit that I’ve lived alone (whether working or just immersing myself in that city for at least 2 months) in a number of foreign places at 23. The experiences have opened my eyes, have changed my view on things, have made me who I am, but at the same time I now feel displaced. I don’t know where home is anymore.

People say that home is where the heart is, but when there’s not all that much heart for one, then what can we say brings us home? I love my dad, and he is in Singapore, but I feel like an outsider in my supposed home country. I don’t feel accepted or like I fit in with the rest of the people back “home”. I like being in Melbourne, but I can’t see myself here forever; there’s just something missing in this place. There’s no… magic, not the magic that gravitates me towards Hong Kong. I’d pick moving to Hong Kong and starting my adult life there, but there’s still something missing.

Am I doing this wrong? Am I looking for something that will never be there? I wonder if my search to find a place for myself is deluded.

I feel lost, I’m 23 and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. My student life ends in less than a year and I’m supposed to know what I want. After all, my dad has invested in me at least a quarter of a million, and all I can say is “I want to be somewhere that feels right to me”.

Since the parentals are arriving in Hong Kong tomorrow, we have dinner plans, house hunting plans and importantly a wishlist to fulfill

Spent the first two days entertaining the relatives. Why oh why did they have to be in the same country. Lesson learnt – Ferry to Macau for investment purposes? Not a good idea, I’m sitting at Pacific Coffee in Windsor House and the computer screen is moving in front of me. Oh yes, seasickness does not go down in a night.

Day one of shopping entails finding a nice cafe for the parentals in IFC before my Lane Crawford stop, then Wellington Street for mahjong tiles and pretty little chips. My CWB run can be completed by tonight when the parentals are knocked out from dinner and tomorrow I am free to City Super in Times Square and GOD!

I am so damn disorganized this trip that I have to outline my shopping itinerary. This is why I have to travel alone, so I can go back to IFC a million times (because I always forget) and not have anyone nag.

So Hong Kong beckons… 75 hours till arrival. Things on list to do:

Pacific Place 太古廣場 and Landmark 置地廣場
SOGO or City Super for my stationery fix
My Venetian Fix – Oh yea, investment time
LKF, Armani Bar and Knutsford Terrace with J
China Club 中國會, Afternoon tea at The Peninsula and Agnès b. DÉLICES

The goal this time round is more shopping and less food. The parentals will be dropped off at a nice little cafe on EVERY stop, along with shopping bags, while I get high with mr plastic And when they go on Friday…

so i’m back in melbourne after two insane weeks in hong kong.

i had a blast! met really fun people at the sevens and around. i’m glad that this time round in hong kong was productive. real bonding and shopping sessions. and MACAU! it’s been a whirlwind, my kind of traveling style. i’m glad i decided to take time off for myself to recharge and unwind. it was good to be alone, and knowing that people would be there for me when i needed them. some completely unexpected, but cheered me up nonetheless.

i would post up pictures but i’m getting freaked out by the weather outside so all internet usage would be minimal until the heavens decide to calm down.

i’m loving every single moment of it, except waking up in the mornings… but we’ve got costumes planned and proposal to complete for next year <3

man, was it a sight to see a samsonite rolling down ??? towards the main road. it was a bigger sight watching a grown man chasing the lone samsonite. drama even before the night has begun!

lkf lkf, you have made me love the singapore mabok scene more. despite that though, you are the reason why i haven’t had a complete meltdown. mr&mrs collins, i can’t wait to see you too! i’m sorry the cuter brother is taking a long time in the shower. but i guess you won’t see this till you get back from buddha. can’t wait!

i guess it’s true that you never appreciate things until you find something worse. i should stop my complaining because i was complaining in hk and things are way worse now. i should learn to appreciate the environment and brashness of hk. there are worse things that i cannot put up with here and i should just learn to keep my mouth shut and just be thankful that i had that chance.

if i could, i would say a big sorry to the people i worked with in hk, for the occasional attitude. then again, some things are better left unsaid, and left as lessons
